
A Wedding Cake for Lee & Michelle: Minimalist Beauty in the Heart of Winter
In December, we had the joy of creating a wedding cake for our dear friends, Lee and Michelle, as they celebrated their beautiful winter wedding in Essex. Their vision was clear from the start—something minimal, elegant, and naturally beautiful. What began as a simple idea quickly evolved into a piece that reflected both their style and the season.
The cake itself was a classic vanilla sponge layered with luscious strawberry jam and whipped buttercream—a flavour that’s as timeless as it is comforting. Each tier was finished with a clean, refined aesthetic, allowing the ingredients and details to shine.
What made this cake truly special was how it was presented. Set atop a natural log cross-section, the design embraced organic textures and tones, perfectly marrying simplicity with a subtle rustic charm. Soft, elegant florals adorned the tiers, bringing in warmth and romance without overwhelming the clean structure of the cake.
Lee and Michelle’s trust in us allowed this design to take shape organically. They approached us with their concept, and together we built on it—turning it into something memorable that complemented both their venue and their personalities.
